Webinar: Can creative marketing provide hotels with a solution to the worst staffing crisis in living memory?

Nearly every independent hotel and hotel group in the UK is facing its own staffing crisis, with some having had to move to closing bedrooms or F&B outlets in order to keep the rest of the business going. With recruitment and retention of staff in a time of very low unemployment now being crucial to the whole sector, our speakers will give their views on how best to use creative and
professional marketing practices to aid your HR strategy.

We are delighted to be joined by two expert speakers:

Helen Laing – Owner & Consultant at Independent Hotel Marketing & Chief Marketing Officer at Original Collection Hotels

Helen LaingHelen is the driving force behind Independent Hotel Marketing (IHM). The antithesis of typical marketing agencies, IHM offers specialist hospitality marketing services in a personal, affordable, and accessible way. With over 15 years’ hospitality experience – working with some of the UK’s finest independently owned hotels – Helen is a respected hospitality aficionado when it comes to boosting occupancy and driving profitability. But the game changed after COVID, when the focus of her work switched from filling rooms, to filling vacancies. While bookings rolled in, clients began to describe a new acute angst: recruitment. From the large coastal hotels in the West Country to the small remote hunting lodges in the Highlands, all lamented that the traditional recruitment portals were no longer delivering the same results, and hiring costs were escalating. There had to be a different way. Two years on, Helen has implemented a raft of successful marketing campaigns, attracting high quality applications through creativity and clever targeting.
